White Noise: Saturday 19th November

We’ve saved the best for last.

White Noise returns to Melbourne for its final musical exploration – join us at Kiss FM’s new home, the Glasshouse Hotel on November 19th from 9pm to celebrate.

Spanning 12 months and having organised 4 extraordinary events, White Noise has earned a special place in this city’s underground EDM scene. What better way to recognise a label’s achievements thus far than to showcase Melbourne’s finest DJs / Producers in one evening.

… and broadcasting LIVE not only across the airwaves on Kiss FM, but also visually across the globe on MyDjSpace!!

Lineup

SIMON SLIEKER (Monotremes)

Having been creating music and dj sets for 16 years; the concept of the dance journey has, for Simon Slieker, become something to live and grow by. A lived art. As a dj he has been sculpting sound and laying out his creations relentlessly with the dancefloor the exhibition space.

His domain traverses the inner worlds of techno and touches the sacred, the tribal and the spiritual traditions as they are conjured through the dance experience. His method is trancelike in it’s minimalism, the repetition, the movement.

The sense of journey he creates as a dj is indicative of this: insistent and intense yet sensitive to the subtle textures which allow breath. The throughline, a mesmerizing and hypnotic drive. Vinyl, computer, controllers, the accessories of the art. Techno, minimal trance, progressive, tech house: the pigmentation of the soundscape.

Seeing the possibilities available with the advent of new technology, Slieker has dismantled and reconfigured his own conception of what it means to be a dj.

MIKE CALLANDER (Haul Music)

Mike Callander is one of Australia’s most dynamic DJs, resident of Melbourne’s infamous Revolver, and founder (alongside Christian Vance and Craig McWhinney) of the exciting Australian record label, Haul Music.

Mike’s productions and remixes for his Haul Music imprint have enjoyed incredible feedback and support from a truly diverse range of DJs including Konrad Black, Agoria, Len Faki, Brothers Vibe, Deetron, Tim Paris, Hernan Cattaneo, Danny Tenaglia, Nick Warren, Deepchild and Gel Abril, while Mike’s upcoming releases include remixes by Alex Smoke, Tornado Wallace and Alexkid.

As a DJ it was at his own techno club, Fokus, in Melbourne in 2001, that Mike achieved instant infamy for his genre-bending musical selections and an approach to DJing that was both versatile and unique. A decade later, Mike has performed and toured alongside just about every techno DJ to visit Australia, while in Melbourne holding long term residencies at a range of sought-after clubbing institutions such as Revolver, Sunny, Nano, Ffour, and the renowned Honkytonks.

Back in Melbourne, Mike plays weekly at Revolver, where he also hosts the “Haul Music Haus Party”, and at events such as Sneakerpeeps and The Likes Of You, as well as Festivals such as Rainbow Serpent, Stereosonic, Creamfields, Future Music and Summadayze.

TIM MEYER (MyDjSpace)

Creative founder of the immensely popular MyDjSpace, Tim Meyer’s definition of sound production and DJing is inexpressible.

Playing out at parties and events over the years such as EPTAS, Earth Dance and Big Day Out; and alongside acts such as The Prodigy, Neuromotor and Xenomorph, creator of Mydjspace Tim Meyer is focused on playing dark and grubby funk filled sets of tech laden beats.

Tim needs to be heard, in order to be understood.

DARKO (White Noise)

The past decade has taken Darko on a path through a wide range of styles and events, from hiphop warehouse parties to clubs packed full of house-loving disco-heads.

After winning 1st place in the UDJ Melbourne Competition 2010, his latest journey brings him upon the world of the darker rhythms.

Emerging into the underground scene with a passion for everything funky, dark, hard-hitting and twisted, influences and interests spread across fat progressive and techno soundscapes, to killer breaks and filthy dubstep & drum n bass.

His passion for searching out new rhythms brings out the monster in him.

Please don’t feed the animal.

ERIC LEE (Kiss FM)

Eric Lee discovered his passion for Djing at the ripe age of 17 & was lucky enough to play his first club gig at 18.

He’s played at some of Melbourne’s premier night spots, various events & even running his own club night. But recently we see him return to the decks and focus purely on the tunes. With over 10 years experience behind the decks he certainly knows how to keep a crowd moving. With his soulful/house, progressive & techno influences from the past, his DJ sets always keep a focus on the deeper side of electronic music.

He is part of the new breed of innovative, driven and diverse DJ’s who are not afraid to push boundaries & explore new sounds.

With regular guest spots on Melbourne’s KISS FM, world renowned Digitally Imported (www.di.fm), his strong passion for what he does, and the attitude to match, we will soon see Eric become one of Melbourne’s top DJ’s in the electronic music scene.

LUKE LAWRENCE (White Noise)

Having DJ’d professionally for 10 years, to say that Luke has a passion for electronic dance simply can’t suffice.

He became interested in Deep, Tech and Progressive House styles when listening to Globalunderground mixes by the likes of Satoshi Tomiie, Anthony Pappa, Steve Lawler and James Lavelle… planting the seed to grow a deeply inspired respect and love of the scene.

The founder and current director of White Noise, Luke hopes to allow the label to support not only his career, but also the likes of upcoming amateur DJ’s and Producers with the confidence and desire to share their sound.

Soundscapes of deep progressive techno and darkened tech house are the order of the day for this talented DJ, sure to get the room on its feet and keep it moving.

We want you to be a part of this unique experience.
